School Without Walls: embedding the arts in the primary curriculum

School Without Walls is an enquiry based model of experiential and creative learning that transforms both the curriculum and the learning culture in schools. Transposing ‘school’ to an arts environment, invites teachers and children to interrogate and reshape teaching and learning in and through the arts.

This project will involve a partnership of five organisations working with 10 primary schools.

5×5×5=creativity, an arts research charity that supports children’s and young people’s creativity and disseminates its research nationally; the egg theatre, a leading professional theatre for children and young people
Bath Festivals, which presents 3 festivals, each with a programme of creative inclusive learning and participation
Mentoring Plus, a charity that works with vulnerable children and young people, with adult mentors
Institute for Education at Bath Spa University will work alongside partners to develop high quality CPDL

The work will take place across Bath and North East Somerset in primary schools and cultural centres.

By collaborating with teachers on design and delivery, the ambition is to influence approaches used in mainstream education to enable vulnerable learners to thrive.

The partnership aims to raise aspirations and achievement, to support all those engaged in learning happy and ready to learn in and through the arts, especially to improve the life chances of more vulnerable and disengaged children.
